Upper East Side bank robbed of thousands

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police are looking for a man who robbed a bank of thousands on the Upper East Side Wednesday.

Around 4 p.m. March 30, a man walked into a Chase bank on East 79th Street and demanded money from the teller, threatening to shoot a customer standing behind him. The teller gave him $4,500 and the suspect fled north on Third Avenue with about $4,500.

No weapons were displayed and there was no note.

The suspect is described as white, 50-60 years old, thin, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with gray stubble and hazel eyes. He was wearing a black jacket and a burgundy knit hat.
