Donald Trump has said that he would meet with the president of Mexico if elected.

During a town hall tonight with Fox News' Sean Hannity, the Republican nominee was asked about recent reports of the Mexican president saying he would meet with the next president of the United States regardless of who it is.

"I'd meet with him," Trump said. "Absolutely, I'd meet with him."

Over the course of his campaign for the White House, Trump has time and time again vowed to build a wall separating Mexico from the U.S., adding Mexico will pay for the wall.

Last week, sitting Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said he would meet with Trump, according to a report in Reuters, despite previously comparing him to Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.

"I have never met him," Nieto said. "I can't agree with some of the things he has said, but I will be absolutely respectful and will seek to work with whoever becomes the next president of the United States."

Pena Nieto previously said in March that he would not pay for a wall under any circumstances.

"We send them practically nothing and Mexico is the new China. I hate to say it. The Mexican leaders our so much smarter than our leaders," Trump said during a rally last January in New Hampshire.
