PROSPECT LEFFERTS GARDENS (WABC) -- It was a hectic scene with ambulance and police that spread several blocks in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens section of Brooklyn.

"I literally went to the grocery store, and like two seconds before this whole thing happened apparently - yeah, it's horrifying," said Brooklyn resident Steven Nasi.

Two men were shot in the street right as people were driving home from work - one in the leg, the other in the torso. It is hard to tell where the crime scene ends, and where it begins.

Shell casings, crime scene tape and other evidence can be found at 4 different locations spanning both Parkside and Clarkson Avenues, where they intersect with Bedford Avenue. In fact, the entire crime scene has to be handled by three different precincts.

At one point, emergency service units were on scene carrying high-powered rifles as they came out of a building, likely looking for the suspect yet to be found.

"It's scary, honestly," said Frank Hoppie.

This is the third shooting in three days for the 70th Precinct . On Saturday, a teen was killed and a baby was grazed by a bullet. It is upsetting for residents at Monday night's scene after they say the neighborhood was starting to improve.

"Hopefully it can get better, hopefully we can nip it in the bud and get it out of here," adds Hoppie.

The two victims are currently in stable condition. Police tell Eyewitness News that the area is experimenting with a sensor that hears gunshots and alerts police to respond faster, which was used on Monday night.
