Search for suspects in possible bias attack in Greenwich Village

GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police in Greenwich Village are looking for a group of suspects wanted for attacking a man inside the elevator of a hotel the day before Halloween.

It happened at the Jane Hotel on Jane Street at 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

A 36-year-old man was inside the elevator with five men and two women when one of them made an anti-gay statement towards the victim.

One of the suspects then punched the man while another kicked him in the face.

The victim suffered a cut to his forehead and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.

The suspects are all believed to be between 20 and 30 years of age.

It's not yet known if this case has any connection to another suspected bias attack in Chelsea that same day.
