STATEN ISLAND (WABC) -- Police made a dramatic rescue off Staten Island, where some boaters ended up against the rocks.

The NYPD Special Operations team rescued two men and a woman from Hoffman Island near the Verrazano Bridge.

Officers responding to a 911 call of a boat in distress observed a 24 foot pleasure boat on the shoreline of Hoffman Island with an 81 year-old man aboard a 20 year-old male and a 68 year-old female, on the rocks at the location.

Police say officers assigned to the NYPD SCUBA Unit were then deployed from the NYPD Air Sea Rescue Helicopter, and were lowered down to the two victims on the rocks while the NYPD Harbor Unit also made their way to the victims.

Upon seeing that the woman was unconscious, the decision was made to use a rescue basket to hoist her into the helicopter to transport her to the nearest hospital.

She was taken to Staten Island University Hospital where she was treated for her injuries and is currently in stable condition. The two men refused medical attention.
