Virgin America crew reports laser incident near JFK Airport

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The FAA reports that the crew of Virgin America Flight 24 reported that a green laser incident Friday night in New York City.

It apparently illuminated the Airbus A320 aircraft when it was four miles northwest of John F. Kennedy International Airport at an altitude of 6,000 feet at about 9:45 p.m.

The aircraft landed safely. No injuries were reported.

The flight took off from San Francisco International Airport.

The FAA notified the New York Police Department and will investigate.
