Bee hive intentionally placed in trunk

FITCHBURG, MA -- Police are investigating after a swarm of bees was discovered inside the trunk of a vehicle.

The swarm was trapped inside a car waiting to be unleashed when someone opened the trunk.

Authorities responded to the area for a report of a large presence of bees.

Bee keepers were called to the scene, and removed bee hives from the trunk of the vehicle.

An investigation has been started to learn why the bees were placed there.

WCVB reports that one woman was stung on the nose by a bee but did not require medical attention.

Many people in the neighborhood remained inside Sunday because many of the bees were swarming the area.
