MIDWOOD, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police have made a second arrest in the case of a teenager brutally attacked inside an elevator in her Brooklyn apartment building.
Malique Young, 18, of Brooklyn, was arrested Thursday and charged with robbery. On Wednesday, authorities took 18-year-old Tyler Hoppin into custody in connection with the assault in Midwood Sunday night, which happened just after 9:30 p.m.
Officers got a tip from someone who recognized Hoppin in surveillance video showed on Eyewitness News and on this site. The video shows the two punching and kicking the victim, then stealing her purse before fleeing on foot.
"I've lived in this building for seven years, I've lived in the neighborhood all my life, nothing like this has ever happened before like this," neighbor Jean Silver said.
Hoppin is charged with robbery, assault and criminal possession of stolen property.
