NORTH BELLMORE, Long Island (WABC) -- A young woman who made a daring escape after she was viciously attacked on Long Island early Sunday described the terrifying ordeal.

The woman didn't want to appear on camera, but talked exclusively with Eyewitness News.

Detectives said the 25-year-old woman was walking west on Porter Street near Porter Place at about 2 a.m. in North Bellmore. She was heading home from a convenience store.

She said she had headphones on, so she didn't hear a man approach. She said he hit her in the head with something, causing her to fall to the ground and feel dazed.

The attacker then carried her and placed her in the rear passenger door of a black sedan face down. She said the man smashed her face into the seat -- but noted that she was able to keep her feet on the ground.

At that point, she said the man pulled her pants down and began sexually assaulting her while slapping her in the face.

She said at one point a car drove by, and he laid on top of her to avoid being seen. But she took that moment as an opportunity to try to escape. She hit the man and broke free. She said she ran to a nearby driveway, where she hid herself and called 911.

The woman said she's never seen her attacker before.

Paramedics took her to a local hospital for treatment. She said she suffered a concussion.

The assailant is described as male white, 6-feet tall, in his 30s, very large build, goatee (no mustache), wearing blue jeans and a dark-colored sweatshirt.

His vehicle is described as a black 4-door sedan, newer model with tan interior extremely messy with garbage.

Detectives request that anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
