Woman sets up sting after buying fraudulent Hamilton tickets on Craigslist
Lucy Yang has the story.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- All Danielle Posner wanted was to see the hot musical, 'Hamilton' - except $350 later, all she got was a lesson in fraud.

"I really thought the guy was honest. I got my hopes up - I listen to the soundtrack all night. Not okay," Posner says.

Posner is a special education teacher with compassion for children with autism. 10 days ago, she found tickets on Craigslist for Hamilton. She gave the seller $350 in cash - face value for his two tickets.

"He was very nice - he shook my hand, looked me in the eye," she says.

The tickets were a splurge for her and her boyfriend. Except the tickets were not even worth the paper they were printed on - they were frauds.

Frustrated and angry, Posner and her boyfriend immediately set up a sting to buy more Hamilton tickets from the same man. They went to the 33rd Precinct to report the loss. The officers agreed to send one of their own to the rendezvous point. Once cash changed hands, the scam artist was busted - all thanks to the victim who refused to take her loss in silence.

"If we can get these guys off the streets and stop frauding people, that would be amazing," Posner adds

Convinced she is not the only one who has been cheated, Danielle is encouraging anyone else who has ever bought bogus tickets to call the authorities.
