UPPER EAST SIDE (WABC) -- Police in Manhattan are searching for a suspect who sexually assaulted a woman on the Upper East Side.

It happened around 5 a.m. Saturday morning as the victim was walking along East 94th Street.

A man walked up and grabbed her from behind and threw her to the ground just after she crossed 2nd Avenue.

The suspect then forced the 36-year-old woman to walk further down the block where he stole $40 from her and sexually assaulted her.

She ran away from the man and into a nearby store where the suspect was unable to find her.

The suspect is described as approximately 30 years old and 5'7" tall.
