WYCKOFF, NJ (WABC) -- Two 13-year-old boys from Wyckoff, New Jersey, went to meet a man to sell him sneakers and were instead robbed at knife point.

On August 21, the boys, who had communicated with the man on Facebook, rode their bicycles to meet the man at the Cedar Hills Shopping Center. The man had offered to buy their two pairs of Air Jordan 3 Retro sneakers for $360.

When the boys arrived, police say they were directed by message to go to another part of the parking lot at the shopping center, where they were robbed.

The boys were not injured.

The suspect is described as being in his early 20s, Hispanic, clean shaven with short dark hair, wearing a white T-shirt, black cargo pants and whiter sneakers. The weapon he used was a switchblade knife.

The incident is still under investigation.

Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox is advising parents to discuss this situation with their children so that they understand the dangers of meeting strangers in this manner.
