Construction debris is being illegally dumped and Yonkers residents say they want it to stop.

Now residents and city officials are taking action to track down who is behind the trash trail.

The ruins of an old building are ruining the quality of life of residents in Yonkers.

There are tons of bricks, cinder blocks, and even pieces of an old tile floor piled high and dumped along the side of the road.

The affected area is a stretch of Scarsdale Road with overgrown brush that is secluded and especially quiet at night.

There are signs warning against illegal dumping, but in recent weeks new piles have popped up; loads of heavy construction debris that unquestionably was deposited by a dump truck.

Of course it all comes down to money. Properly disposing of all this would cost thousands of dollars, and thus there's the temptation to cut corners.

There's a reward of up to $1,000 for anyone who reports a case of illegal dumping in which a conviction is made.

One recent load was dumped in the parking lot of Our Lady of Fatima Church.

A brazen criminal act, that has left residents frustrated, to the point where someone put a sign saying you have been reported and are being watched.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact them.

If you witness illegal dumping, please call 914-377-DUMP (3867) or call the Yonkers Police Department at (914) 377-7900.
