Joe Torres reports on the dogs stolen in Bridgeport.

Police in a Connecticut city say 11 pedigree dogs have been stolen over a two-week period.

Bridgeport police say they believe the dogs were stolen by an illegal breeder. According to investigators, the dogs were all young females that have the ability to breed.

"I'm just a mess, I'm a big mess," victim Daniella Parreiras said. "I'm trying to be strong, but I'm really just a big mess."

Parreiras says she hasn't slept in days after she last saw saw her 2-year-old teacup Yorkie Thursday afternoon. The 33-year-old is quite certain someone took her.

"I feel very guilty," she said. "I feel like i could have done more. I feel guilty for not realizing she was not home for a whole hour."

Parreiras posted pictures of Daisy throughout her Beardsley Park neighborhood, and she soon learned Daisy is one of 11 female Yorkies stolen from homes.

"Our officers are out there pounding the pavement right now," Bridgeport police Chief A.J. Perez said. "They're looking for videos, actually cameras, so they can download the videos. They're talking to people in the neighborhoods. Somebody's got to know something."

Perez ordered ordered all four of the city's Animal Control officers to also check with veterinarians, dog shops and pet stores for possible leads.

"I think someone is watching people with Yorkies," City Councilwoman Jeanette Herron said. "It's an unfortunate thing. They are all females, and there's not one male that's been taken. So obviously, this is a breeder."

Nirma Reyes knows exactly how her neighbor is feeling. Someone stole her 13-year old male Yorkie named Killa on Thanksgiving.

"My daughter celebrated her 39th birthday yesterday, and the first thing she said to me was, 'Ma, I miss Killa,' and cried in my arms," she said. "It's hard."

Police do not have any suspects at this time.

City officials say whoever took the animals can return them with no questions asked.
