It is a scene that is rarely captured on video -- a super pod of gray whales swimming together off the coast of Southern California.

In late January, a group of whale watchers was nearing the ned of a trip off Dana Point when they were lucky enough to witness the event.

If that weren't special enough, the whales were then joined by a group of Risso's dolphins.

Gray whales can be 40-50 long and weigh up to 40 tons. They can often be seen off the west coast of North America during their yearly migration between Alaska and Mexico.
