LAKE RONKONKOMA (WABC) -- Suffolk County police officers saved a dog that fell through a pond on Thursday.

Emergency service officers Daniel Coan, Gerry Sheridan, Walter Justincic and Michael Simpson responded to Spectacle Pond in Lake Ronkonkoma after a 911 caller reported seeing that a black Labrador had fallen through the ice.

Officer Coan waded through a section of open water, in an exposure suit, and broke the ice around the trapped dog.

The dog, Guinness, was carried to shore and reunited with its owner, who lived nearby.
