Swarm of bees invades Greenwich Village
The NYPD beekeeper vacuumed the bees to relocate them to a rural area.

GREENWICH VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Tens of thousands of bees shut down an entire block in Greenwich Village Friday afternoon.

The bees had made their hive up a tree on Thompson Street between Houston and Bleecker.

The NYPD beekeeper came to vacuum them up.

Someone on the scene said there were 40,000 bees in the swarm.

The bees will be taken upstate so they can make their honey in a more rural setting.
