Suspect sought in Hell's Kitchen attempted rape
Police are hunting for the suspect in an attempted rape in Hell's Kitchen.

HELL'S KITCHEN, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are searching for the suspect behind an attempted rape in Manhattan.

Surveillance video shows the attacker as he randomly grabbed the victim from behind.

It happened at about 4:20 a.m. Sept. 1 in front of 414 West 51st Street in Hell's Kitchen.

Police say the suspect grabbed a 27-year-old woman, covered her mouth with his hand and tried to pull her pants down.

The victim fought off the attacker and yelled out for help.

He then fled on foot westbound on 51st Street.

The NYPD describes the suspect as a male in his 40s; last seen wearing a hooded sweater with white lettering on the front, dark colored pants and black sneakers.
