NEW YORK (WABC) -- We are quickly approaching the holiday shopping season, and November is filled with a lot of good deals.

But it's important to know what to buy, and when to buy it, as you'll see in our Best Bets for the month.

Black Friday is becoming more of a season, with competition pulling prices low by the time you can say trick or treat.

Which means by this weekend you'll see deals leaking out at stores, and some are even out there on-line already.

A $60,000 screen and projector is way out of most of our holiday shopping budgets.

So don't look for most luxury items to see any Black Friday discounts. But fear not, average shopper..this month's bound to bring you plenty of deals and steals you won't see any other time of the year.

"This is the single best time of the year to buy a laptop. 15 inch laptops with an Intel processor, those are going to be available for $300," says Ben Glaser of Dealnews.com. Aside from laptop lows, he says look for another staple to hit rock bottom, TVs.

"Black Friday is the time to buy an HDTV. These are the meat and potatoes of Black Friday," says Glaser.

And not just the door-buster, low-end off brands will be discounted. "60 inch HDTVs, we're seeing low prices of $549," says Glaser. "That's down from the $800 range."

If someone on your list wants a new gaming system to go with the new family room TV, Ben says your best bet's a bundle. "We're expected to see this for $300. For comparison a refurbished console costs $250, so it's a no-brainer, you get more bang for your buck."

But Ben says don't overlook buying refurbished models of computers, cameras, or appliances, most of the time good as new and much cheaper, just make sure it's a reputable retailer.

"They have taken in this new item and they reworked it and that usually comes with a warranty," says Ben.

He warns Black Friday enthusiasts not to get snared by low prices. That $99 laptop's enticing, but you may not be able to use it.

"Your phone has more memory than this computer," points out Ben.

Instead, concentrate on Black Friday deals on last year's models of higher end product instead.

"The iPad mini, the iPad 4 is going to be around $100 off, that puts them at $300," says Ben.

Now's also the time to act on appliances large and small at annual all time lows.

Vacuum deals are going to clean up on Black Friday. Even on those pricey Dysons.

"Very high quality. But on Black Friday up to 50% of the $350 Dyson you can score for $199 on Black Friday," says Ben.

Also expect the best deals on all sorts of kitchen equipment.

To save even more this season look for refurbished models on tech and appliances..reputable retailers usually make them good as new with a guarantee.
