NEW YORK (WABC) -- If you're ready for some spring cleaning, chances are some of the junk you have lying around could be worth something.

Before you throw out your trash, we've got some tips on how to turn trash into cash.

Most people don't realize there's lots of money collecting dust in junk drawers, and if you have old electronics, you could really cash in.

GameStop has a buyback program, and you can get $62 for a used Kinect for xBox. Wii controllers are worth $24, and you can also turn used video games, CDs and DVDs into quick cash on numerous buyback sites like Best Buy's media trade-in.

"Instead of tossing stuff out, you could be sitting on hundreds of dollars of goods," Andrea Woroch said.

She's the queen of turning trash into cash, and she starts with last year's fashions cluttering up the closet. You can sell them on RecycleYourFashions.com. You can also buy used.

"It looks brand new, and no one will know where you bought it from," Woroch said.

And there's a potential bonanza for brides if they sell their old dresses.

"You can get 50 to 60 percent of the value of the dress, especially the sooner you sell it," she said.

Just check out EncoreBride.com or PreownedWeddingDresses.com. Bridesmaids can even sell dresses there.

"For a small listing fee, you can post it, and they try to sell it," Woroch said.

Woroch says you can turn books into bucks on Cash4Books.net and CashForBooks.com. Both offer free shipping so you don't have to spend to send.

And phones can be sold on RapidRepair.com, which will buy your cracked and broken devices. On rival site Gazelle.com, a seemingly worthless old iPhone fetched $170.

And that's money in your hand instead of in your drawer or garage.
