7 On Your Side: Best buys for June
7 On Your Side's Nina Pineda has the best buys for June.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- It's finally here, June! Kids finish school and the weather is better. But the big day that should be circled is June 18th, that's Father's Day. But good news, there are plenty of deals for Dads and grads all month long. Never-mind the neckties, and totally forget tools says 7 On Your Side's deal expert.

Dealnews.com researchers came up with these bargains for Dad instead, both Home Depot and Michael's offer cheap or free craft workshops for kids to make dad's gifts.

Popular eateries will slash your bill June 18th, (Father's Day), take Pops out for a "Bloomin' Onion" or big bowl of pasta.

"Last year Olive Garden cut 20-percent off. Outback cut 15-percent off, that's really significant," said Ben Glaser, dealnews.com.

Grab camping and outdoor gear for the dad or grad in your life. June puts everything outdoorsy on sale.

One idea: combine a gift with a fishing trip. This month celebrates National Fishing and Boating Week and several states let you fish for free.

If you prefer your lawn to the lake, Glaser says now's the time to take advantage of cheaper gardening and yard supplies.

"If you procrastinated your spring planting it may actually benefit you cost-wise," Glaser said.

You can reap the rewards of fresh farm produce in June too; cucumbers, squash, leafy greens, and tomatoes will all be far cheaper as the harvest rolls in.

"You see a pint of strawberries drop from $6-7 all the way down to $1.50. They got so many strawberries they don't know what to do with them," Glaser said.

June also provides in break in the price to check out a fairly new flick. Cinemark and Regal Cinemas will offer G and PG "1-buck" matinees on movies released a few months ago. Check local listings for the discounts.

But if you prefer squats to sitting, Glaser reminds this is the best time to negotiate membership rates at your local gym.

"Because they don't have the huge influx of numbers they're going to be much more eager to cut you a deal," Glaser said.

Get fit then get into some lingerie. Victoria's Secret's semi-annual sale offers 50-70-percent off and department stores slash prices to compete.

What don't you want to buy this month? Laptops and grills will both get cheaper later in the summer. Also avoid TVs - Dealnews says the summer months are traditionally bad for TV deals.

But if you want to be bad and eat something good, do it this Friday. June 2nd is National Donut Day! Dunkin, Krispy Kreme and Tim Horton's all gave away donuts last year, you could get your donut fix for free!
