Shark attack survivor inspiring others
Amy Freeze talked with Mike Coots, who lost a leg in a shark attack and now works with the Challenged Athletes Foundation.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- A terrifying encounter with a tiger shark left surfer Mike Coots without a right leg.

In the months after the attack, he chose not to be afraid of surfing again, but to confront any fears head-on, and return to the ocean.

Now Mike works with the Challenged Athletes Foundation to inspire amputees and other young athletes who are dealing with the loss of a limb.

He will be participating in Wednesday's Empire State Building Run-Up.
