Teen's 'cheesy' promposal to girl with Down syndrome goes viral

NEWTON, KANSAS -- Shaedon Wedel and his "cheesy" promposal to his best friend's sister has gone viral.

Shaedon, a senior at Newton High School, hatched the plan with his best friend, Carson. Carson originally was going to take his sister, Carlie, to the prom. After Carson started a relationship, Shaedon said plans changed, and instead, he made himself available as Carlie's date.

Why Doritos? Shaedon says that Carlie loves them, so he decided to use that as inspiration for the T-shirt.

"I know I'm NACHO your typical Doritos but..." said the front of the shirt adorned with the snack's logo. On the back, it read, "I'm going to be CHEESY and ask: WILL YOU GO TO PROM WITH ME?"

Carlie, who has Down syndrome, had her dad help with reading the message. Shaedon said that she happily accepted the promposal and replied, "I want a pink dress and look like Cinderella!"

Shaedon said that Carlie's mom is going to find the perfect pink dress for her, and Shaedon said he'll shop for his accompanying tuxedo suit.
