Bridges denies trying to grab attention with the comments, and tries to explain that Williams' alleged suicide has only brought more pain to those around him.
But Twitter users continued to attack Bridges for his comments.
Bridges stands by his statements, again pressing that he is not trying to grab attention in the wake of Williams' death.
At this point, TMZ ran an article with the headline: ROBIN WILLIAMS 'SELFISH' FOR COMMITTING SUICIDE SAYS TODD BRIDGES.
Twitter users are divided, though most say that Bridges has brought the flack upon himself.
After so much social uproar, Bridges finally apologizes and shares the fact a close friend of his recently committed suicide.
Bridges believes his reaction may have been latent reaction to his own friend's suicide, and affirms his apology again.

Diff'rent Strokes actor Todd Bridges' Twitter exploded last night with negative feedback after his comment that comedy legend Robin Williams' alleged suicide was "selfish."

"I'm sorry but I have to say this life is rough sometimes ride celebrities life is rough for everybody committing suicide is not the way," wrote Bridges in regards to Williams' death. "It is a very selfish act you're not thinking about your family your friends or your fans."

Twitter users fired back at Bridges, calling his comments "insensitive" and "ignorant." Some even asserted that Bridges was trying to grab attention in the midst of Williams' death.

After this backlash, Bridges offered his apologies. He also shared that his best friend recently committed suicide, and that his reaction to news of Williams' death was more of a latent reaction to his friend's death.
