CHELSEA (WABC) -- The New York area's lucky to have five finalists in a national golf event designed for kids.
The championship is on Sunday at one of the world's legendary courses.
John Hiller, a local 8-year-old, is playing Sunday at Augusta National, the same week as The Masters, in the national finals of the "Drive, Chip & Putt". If you've heard of "Punt, Pass & Kick" it's like that, but for golf. John used to watch The Masters and dream big.
"Man, I really want to go there," John said.
His low score is 83. Yeah, John's a player! Only 80 finalists are invited. John started playing golf years ago, when he was four. He watched his dad and he was hooked.
"Golf's always sort of been my thing because you don't run, so sometimes you walk or sometimes go in a cart, it's sort of peaceful," John said.
"Every single swing gives him a chance to do his best and be competitive and get it as close to or in the hole as possible and that's what he does," said Mike Hiller, John's dad.
"He said there's no running," Eyewitness News Sports Anchor Rob Power said.
"Ha, that too," Mike said.
"The most fun thing that I'm really looking forward to is putting on the 18th green, that's going to be fun," John said.
He'll be there Sunday with the best golfers around.
"I think I'm going to feel like, nervous because it's really exciting, and usually when I'm really excited my legs start to shake, and it's just really going to be a cool moment," John said.
"I bet you're going to be great," Eyewitness News Sports Anchor Rob Powers said.
"Yeah, me too," John said.
