No. 19 Seton Hall back in national spotlight

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. (WABC) -- Four days, two upset wins, one team. After knocking off No. 15 St. John's and No. 6 Villanova, Seton Hall is back in the national spotlight.

"I've been excited since before the season, but the excitement is just getting more and more every time I step on the court," said freshman Khadeen Carrington.

The Pirates are now ranked 19th in the country, their first time cracking the AP Top 20 since 2001, despite a roster with eight freshmen and top player Isaiah Whitehead out with injury.

"Every game has been somebody different to lead the way, which is good," said senior Brandon Mobley. "Whenever their number is called, they step up, they're not afraid of the big moment, they just like having fun and winning is fun."

Is it a surprise this young team is clicking so soon?

"If you had asked me that a month ago I would say yes," said head coach Kevin Willard. "But the fact I've been around them so long and they keep continuing to work hard and continue to have a great attitude and bring a focus on what they need to focus on, then it's no."

Two huge wins in a wild 72-hours, but the Pirates know it's only January 5th. The bigger goals are still out there.

"These guys know it's going to be a dogfight, we still have 15 or 16 more conference games ahead of us before the Big East Tournament even starts," Mobley said.

"I think the sky's the limit for us, but at the same time like I said, the Big East is tough so we know that we have to say focused," said junior Sterling Gibbs.
