NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. -- Wide receiver Leonte Carroo has been reinstated to the Rutgers University football team.

The school announced the decision Wednesday, one day after a judge dismissed simple assault charges that had been filed against Carroo.

Coach Kyle Flood said Carroo agreed to some undisclosed conditions and "accepted the responsibility" that comes with his return to the team.

The simple assault charges were filed last month after authorities said Carroo attacked a woman after a football game and slammed her onto concrete. The woman received injuries on her hip, hands, elbow and head.

A Piscataway municipal court judge dismissed the charges Tuesday night after the woman said she didn't want to testify. That came hours after another judge had lifted a temporary restraining order filed against Carroo after the woman said she didn't think it was necessary.
