Gary Sanchez, the breakout rookie catcher for the New York Yankeesin 2016, is working hard in the offseason in hopes of making 2017 just as successful.
That's not to say Sanchez never takes a break from training to give some love back to the fans who have escalated his popularity.
On Monday, Sanchez tried his hand at preparing sandwiches, volunteering for a shift at the Bullpen Deli near Yankee Stadium.
By day's end, will Sanchez be able to add sandwich-making to his list of talents? Well, that will be for the customers to decide.
Sanchez finished second overall in rookie of the year voting in 2016 despite playing in only 53 games, almost all of them from Aug. 3 on. He batted .299 with 20 home runs. Sanchez became the fastest rookie to reach the 18 home run mark, doing so in only 45 games.
