10 hurt when fire truck and bus collide in Yonkers
Carolina Leid has the latest on the accident in Yonkers that left 10 people hurt.

YONKERS (WABC) -- A Yonkers fire engine rushing to an emergency collided with a casino bus Wednesday night, leaving 10 people injured.

The accident happened at about 6 p.m. at the intersection of Kimball and Yonkers Avenues.

Firefighters were responding to a call on Maple Place with lights and sirens on when their vehicle crashed into the driver's side of an Empire City Casino bus.

There were six people on the bus and four firefighters on the fire engine at the time of the collision.

All 10 were transported to local hospitals with varying degrees of injuries.

The firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The injuries of the passengers range from serious to minor.

Residents say it is a difficult intersection to navigate. "It's only a matter of time before there's going to be a major accident on this street, because all the traffic from Cross County comes this way, and it's only a matter of time before someone is going to get killed," said witness Tony Finan.
