Delays at inbound Lincoln Tunnel after van catches fire

WEEHAWKEN (WABC) -- Drivers are dealing with delays at the inbound Lincoln Tunnel Wednesday morning after a van caught fire on I-495 in Weehawken.

The driver barely managed to escape before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, which forced the shutdown of all lanes in both directions.

Even after the roadway reopened around 9:45 a.m., extensive delays were reported.

There are no injuries, and the driver was talking to the authorities.

The van was removed from the roadway and towed, at which time all lanes fully reopened.
