EXCLUSIVE: Relative of woman hit by tire in freak accident speaks out
Joe Torres has the exclusive interview after a woman was injured in a freak accident in Edison.

EDISON, New Jersey (WABC) -- Gladys Duman is lucky to be alive. In fact, she is lucky she escaped serious injury. On Friday night just before 9:00 in Edison, a car on the New Jersey Turmpike lost a tire - that tire smashed into Duman's family Sedan.

Duman's husband was behind the wheel - Duman was the front seat passenger. Emergency workers rushed her to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, and that is where we spoke to her aunt.

"Her condition is stable," Nubia Canon told Eyewitness News in Spanish, "she is much better than when she arrived yesterday in a coma, but she is better."

Duman's husband was not hurt - neither were their two boys who rode in the car's backseat. There are no details from investigators on specifically where the lost tire came from.

"Thanks be to God that her husband and two boys are fine. Nothing happened to them. The smash happened on the front part of the car where she was sitting," added Canon.
