FORT LEE (WABC) -- A traffic crash on the inbound approach to the George Washington Bridge led to a minor fuel spill and major delays Tuesday morning.

The accident happened shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday near Center Avenue on the upper level approach.

It was unclear what kind of fuel spilled, but it is considered minor and was cleaned up shortly after 8 a.m.

The crash closed two lanes and, along with an accident on the New York side of the lower level, led to delays of at least an hour for traffic heading into New York City.

Residual delays lingered after the cleanup was over.
