SELDEN (WABC) -- Police say a resident of Ireland who was visiting Long Island has been charged with driving while intoxicated with his two children in the vehicle.

James O'Connor, 25, was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Passat westbound on Middle Country Road in Selden when he was pulled over at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday for failing to maintain his lane, police say.

O'Connor's 5-year-old and 8-month-old daughters were in the vehicle with him.

Officers determined that O'Connor was intoxicated and he was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra's Law) and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was also issued three summonses for vehicle and traffic law violations.
