NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police say a motorcyclist was killed when he lost control of his bike and hit a pole on the Cross Bronx Expressway.

Officers responded to a 911 call at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday in the vicinity of Harding Avenue and found the victim, 35-year old Corri Samuels, unconscious and unresponsive with severe head and neck trauma.

EMS responded and transported Samuels to Jacobi Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation showed Samuels was operating a 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 motorcycle southbound on the Cross Bronx Expressway when he lost control and struck a pole.

Samuels owned some residential buildings and an auto-towing business in the Bronx. A friend, Joe Ortiz, says Samuels was a married father devoted to his two school-age children.

Ortiz says Samuels was a longtime motorcycle rider.

Police are investigating what caused the wreck.
