Emergency repairs at bridge to Lincoln Tunnel
Carolina Leid has details on what the repairs will mean for the morning commute.

NORTH BERGEN (WABC) -- Motorists heading into New York City by way of the Lincoln Tunnel should expect delays.

The state Transportation Department on Wednesday closed the two right lanes on the I-495 east bridge in North Bergen for emergency repairs. The road feeds into the Lincoln Tunnel.

Crews are repairing a damaged bridge deck joint.

The work closing down the two eastbound lanes is expected to wrap up prior to Thursday morning. Officials say temporary repairs will allow all the lanes to reopen by 5 a.m., with permanent repairs being made over the weekend.

So the two lanes will again be shut down again at 9 p.m. Friday night and will reopen when permanent repairs are complete. There is no specific timetable for that as yet.

Motorists heading into New York City are advised to use alternate routes and check NJDOT's traffic information website 511nj.org for real-time travel information and plan their trips accordingly.

New Jersey Transit rail is cross honoring bus tickets and passes due to the emergency construction.
