Passengers stranded in Bronx after Metro-North train disabled overnight

BRONX, N.Y. (WABC) -- A Metro-North train lost power in the Bronx overnight, leaving passengers stranded for hours.

The 11:39 p.m. train from Grand Central to Stamford became disabled south of the Metro-North Woodlawn station in the Bronx because of an apparent power distribution problem.

Officials said there was no power from the third rail, leaving commuters waiting for 90 minutes to 2 hours on the train.

A diesel train responded and pushed the disabled train to the Woodlawn station where passengers went to south side of the tracks. Another train picked them up to continue their commute.

The disabled train should not impact the morning commute.
