DIX HILLS (WABC) -- A man is under arrest on DWI charges after police say he lost control of his vehicle and crashed while driving the wrong way on the Long Island Expressway in Suffolk County early Sunday morning.
According to police, James T. Reynolds, II was initially travelling eastbound on the LIE in a 2004 Honda Civic when two officers saw him enter the rest area located between Exits 51 and 52 and make a u-turn.
He then exited the rest area and drove westbound on the eastbound side of the LIE, authorities say.
Reynolds, 27, of Amityville, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the trees on the right shoulder of the road.
He was not injured in the crash and he was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Driving in the Wrong Direction.
