Tire flies off car, hits another injuring the driver in Clark
Carolina Leid reports from Clark, New Jersey.

CLARK, N.J. (WABC) -- There was frightening ordeal for a driver on the Garden State Parkway, when a tire suddenly came crashing through her window.

Police are now trying to figure out where that tire came from.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

Police say a driver on the northbound side lost a wheel near Exit 135, shooting a tire into the southbound lanes, smashing into the front windshield of a black Honda Civic.

The driver was treated and released from the hospital and was then returning to her suburban Philadelphia home to recover.

The Monroeville, New Jersey woman and her husband spoke to Eyewitness News on the phone that she has minor injuries, including cuts to her face.

A tow truck driver from L&J Body and Fender Works responded to the call and saw the driver getting into an ambulance.

"She's very lucky to be alive. Nine times out of 10 you don't make it out of something like that, so I hope she's alright," said David McCaw, L&J Body and Fender Works.

Police are trying to figure out where the tire came from and the incident is under investigation.
