BELMAR, N.J. (WABC) -- A lot of people spent the weekend soaking up the sun and spending as much time outdoors and in the water at the beach.

There is a simple formula to success on the Jersey Shore, the more the sun shines the more people head for the beach and they come ready to spend money.

In Belmar, the summer of 2015 has out shined any previous summer with the number of visitors.

So Monday the shore community allowed all visitors free parking and free beach access.

The best summer ever for Belmar tourism and for businesses is important because many are still recovering financially from the losses brought on by Superstorm Sandy.

Cheaper gas prices have also helped to pave the way for more tourism.

Many local businesses are already counting up the dollars.

The shore had rain free weekends in the months of July in August. No soaking means sucking in more cash.

Tourism brings some $42 billion into the state's economy and produces 300,000 permanent and temporary jobs.
