BUSHWICK, Brooklyn (WABC) -- In Bushwick, everyone outside is trying to stay warm, but folks living inside 191 Woodbine Street say they're facing the same challenge inside their apartments.

It's been at least three days, and tenants in the three-story city-run building have no heat.

With this cold snap and no relief in sight, they're worried someone is going to get sick.

"Upstairs they have children, there's an older woman, 91, what are we going to do from here on," said Evelyn Valentine, a tenant.

In Valentine's first floor unit, you can feel the frigid air pouring in. At night, she piles on the blankets and turns on an electric space heater to stay warm.

"Sometimes I use it, sometimes I don't because it's dangerous, can't be using it everyday," Valentine said.

They've called 311, reached out to NYCHA, but they keep getting the same line.

"They said after 24 hours they are going to come and they never come," Valentine said.

It's not clear what the problem is, whether it's the boiler or something else.

Eyewitness News reached out to the city and within a few hours, it sent over several teams to take a look.

But Valentine, who suffers from diabetes, told Eyewitness News this isn't the first time they've dealth with this and believes it won't be the last.

"They don't do the repairs, they don't do anything, they don't do practically anything in this building," Valentine said.
