A trooper's brush with tragedy on an icy highway was captured in a dramatic dash-cam video, and the highway patrol hopes the attention-grabbing moment will serve as a reminder to drivers.

The Colorado State Patrol said the trooper in the video was out investigating a crash when a car traveling at high speed in the far right lane nearly ran over him. Fortunately, the trooper dives out of the way just in time. The driver can be seen swerving and then regaining control.

CSP said the driver has not been found, but they are issuing a warning to all drivers to slow down and move over when you see a crash.

"We hope she (and everyone that watches) will remember that lives can change -- or be lost -- in an instant," the department wrote on Facebook.

The video was taken March 18 along Highway 36 in Superior, Colo., according to ABC affiliate Denver7. The patrol posted the video -- and the warning -- on Tuesday, one day before a deputy in a nearby county was injured when her patrol car was struck while she was investigating a highway crash.
