Stacey Sager has the latest details as Long Island prepares for Hurricane Jose.

The visitor's center in Dix Hills on Long Island is where New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has now stockpiled storm equipment for the duration of Hurricane Jose and throughout any potential threat of Hurricane Maria.

Additionally, there are 100 national guard members on standby, more than 31,000 ready-to-eat meals, PSEG trucks, Homeland Security, search and rescue boats, and giant "sand bagging" machines.

Regarding such extensive prep for a storm that may not be a major event here in Long Island, the governor said, "We are prepared for whatever it is, or whatever it isn't."

The biggest problem will be rough surf and coastal flooding. And so several outer beaches in Suffolk County are already closed. We'll be live with more details later today on abc7NY.
