HARBOR, Oregon (WABC) -- Highway 101 in Oregon is closed because of a widening sinkhole.

It started to move around noon Thursday, after an overnight storm.

The first sinkhole developed in mid-December in a diner parking lot in Harbor, but the ground became unstable after storms battered the local area.

A section of Shopping Center Avenue - parallel to Highway 101 - began to slip away on Thursday, according to Jared Castle, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Police cordoned off the area and set up a detour for drivers.
