1 dead, 2 hurt in crash involving Suffolk County Transit bus

SOUTHOLD (WABC) -- One person was killed and two others were injured when a Suffolk County Transit bus and an SUV collided in Southold Wednesday morning.

The incident happened on Main Road, south of Sage Boulevard, just before noon.

The male driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger was hurt. The bus driver sustained a leg injury, and about six passengers on the bus were uninjured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police believe the SUV swerved into the oncoming bus.
