NEW YORK (WABC) -- The Mets' 1986 season was full of memorable moments, but a pair of dramatic finishes in the National League Championship Series against the Astros paved the way for a trip to the World Series.

And the first defining moment came in Game 3, with the Mets trailing 5-4 in the ninth inning and the series tied at one game apiece. Wally Backman led off the inning with a bunt single, and two batters later, Lenny Dykstra stepped to the plate. In his most memorable Met moment, the speedy outfielder belted a two-run home run that propelled the Amazins' to a 6-5 walk-off win.
