NEW YORK (WABC) -- Serena Williams is not only a tennis superstar, but a superhero - at least on Facebook where she shared what happened to her while out to dinner on Tuesday night.

She was sitting with a friend when a guy grabbed her phone off a chair and ran. He apparently didn't realize he was messing with a world class athlete, because she gave chase and quickly caught up with him.

Williams wrote, "In the most menacing yet calm no nonsense voice I could muster I kindly asked him if he "accidentally" took the wrong phone. He stumbled on his words probably not expecting this to happen. While he was thinking of the right thing to say and eventually he said "Gosh you know what I did! It was so confusing in there. I must have grabbed the wrong phone.'"

Not sure what happened to the thief after that, but she says she got a standing ovation returning to the restaurant. She called the while incident a win for women.

"Just because you are a lady don't be afraid to step up to any challenge and not be a victim but a hero!" she wrote.
