Search for suspect in Lower Manhattan who attempted to rape 62-year-old woman

LOWER MANHATTAN (WABC) -- Police in Lower Manhattan are searching for a man caught on surveillance video attempting to rape a woman.

It happened at 1 p.m. Friday.

A 62-year-old woman was in the rear lobby of her building when the suspect went up to her and tried to rape her.

She was able to fend off the suspect who left the scene.

She was not hurt.

The suspect is a Hispanic male, 20 to 30-years-old, 5'5" to 5'8" tall, weighing 150-170 pounds, and wearing what appears to be a leather jacket with the "Batman" symbol on it.
