NYPD officers rescue hawk in distress in East River

NEW YORK -- Two NYPD officers rescued a hawk, after they noticed that it was in distress in the East River.

The officers from the department's Harbor Unit were on patrol near the Brooklyn Bridge on Sunday morning when they spotted the hawk in the water, flapping its wings.

They pulled the hawk onto the boat, dried it off with a towel, and it remained perched on the arm of an officer for several minutes before flying off.
