A family dog is credited with saving the lives of homeowners after their house went up in flames in Runnemede, New Jersey.

RUNNEMEDE, N.J. -- A family dog is credited with saving the lives of homeowners after their house went up in flames in Runnemede, New Jersey.

The blaze broke out around 2 a.m. Friday on the unit block of South Read Avenue.

The fire reportedly started in the basement and spread quickly throughout the house.

The family dog began barking to wake up the homeowners. Both were able to get out safely.

Fire crews placed the blaze under control. There were no injuries reported.

So far, there is no word on what sparked the blaze.
