Couple gets engaged on traffic stop
A man proposed to his girlfriend during a traffic stop. Jeff Ehling reports.

JOHNSTON, Iowa -- Thanksgiving got off to a rough start for a man in Iowa. He was pulled over for speeding and nearly taken in for stealing. But the only thing he was stealing was his girlfriend's heart.

Last year, Jeff Schulte was actually ticketed for speeding right in front of his girlfriend's parent's house. Her whole family saw it and he was embarrassed.

So this time around, he thought it would be fun to relive the memory with a happier ending.

Johnston Police Officer Matt Chiles said, "I'm happy I was involved with it. It's nice to be involved with something they are going to remember for the rest of their lives."

Schulte's girlfriend, Jenna Reitz, said "yes," and the happy couple is planning to get married in July.
